The weather today was lovely, not wet so the kids can play outdoor. With nice gentle wind.

G, one of J's best friends in football class:

J told the coach he wanted to be in the same team as G.

Would you still let your little one to "help" you if he's going to make a mess (which he promised he is not goiing to make a mess)?

My new product:

Portable travel game - shopkeeper (fruits) - HKD60 postage included . I made this portable travel game to learn about money 💰, maths, and fruit 🍎🍊🍌vocabs in English and Chinese. Ideal for travelliing in MTR, plane, waiting in a restaurant... etc. . There are 3 sets of cards. . 1st set is the "fruit 🍎🍊🍌"cards with cute fruit pictures and English and Chinese vocabs. Younger children who cannot read yet can play with these cards as normal picture cards to learn about different fruits. Older children who begin to recognise and read can learn the English and Chinese words. . 2nd set is the "price 💲" cards. There are simple prices for example "$5" to more advanced cards for example "Buy 1 get 1 free" . 3rd set is the "money 💰" cards. These are Hong Kong money. There are coins and notes, ranging from $1 to $1000. . ❓How to play: . Simple! :) . 1. "Customer" chooses a fruit (from the fruit cards set) he wants to buy 2, "Shopkeeper" chooses a price (from the price cards set) 3. "Customer" pays with the money cards . ✔️Lots of ideas to play and learn: . To begin with, set the price to some straight forwards ones for example "$2" or "$5" so your little one can simply "pays" with a $2 coin or $5 coin. . For advanced level, set the price like "$4" where he has to do a bit of maths for example "pays with 2x $2 coins" and you can introduce different ways to pay with the coins. . For more advanced level you can buy more items, and play with the "Buy 1 get 1 free" card. . Then of course you can provide certain coins and money and work on subtraction, so for example the "customer" only has a $10 note and the orange is $5, how much change should he get? . I hope to make more item cards and some HK cents in the near future. . More #youtube videos in my channel (link in bio) . #happymindswithbusma

A few days ago I read a blog by Meri Cherry on Spring Garden Glyph and I think it would the perfect art activity to play with J, especially it's Spring now.

We did some painting some days ago. We were just exploring painting on coloured paper (instead of on white paper). I was thinking to make a collage with these painting before I came across Meri Cherry's post. But now I decided I could do something a bit more special with them.

As described from the post, "a glyph is a pictograph or symbol for something else". And I followed her idea to make Spring Garden Glyphs to share information about J using a picture.

I punched holes with my set of circle and flowery punches from EK, I also cut out some stripes and a few other shapes.

I laid out all the shapes on the table and I told J the following information (which is very similar to her post but adjusted a little bit):

1. Make some flowers. If you are 1 year old, make 1 flower. If you are 2 years old, make 2 flowers
2. Make the sun. If you have a pet, make a yellow sun. If you do not have a pet, make a purple sun.
3. Make some garden insects. If you love mango, make a butterfly. If you love strawberry, make a frog. If you love both, make both.

J was very excited and happy about this especially when he was listening to the instructions. He paid attention carefully and laughed at the codings. He told me it was very funny because "sun = pet" and "insects = fruits".

I think we can do it again for sure. We can have a bigger piece of paper so we can put more things on it. We can have more colours. We can do another topic. We can try more codings.

There are more art ideas that you can do with your little ones at home. Head over to Meri Cherry's blog for more information.

Yes I know, J said he is 1 year old to "trick" people
